Brand New Day

"We just need to find them, and then give them a doorway to here." Eonoe said. "But we should find him. We have a lot to go over, and he's probably looking for us-"

"Dad?" Pernas asked, running in. "I just told Vi's father you'd arrived, he wants to speak with you."

The Father came rushing in, a little out of breath. "So, you're the other magic dragon?" he asked.

"Yes." Eonoe said.

"See, they run, lazy Eonoe," Reyna commented with a laugh. She smiled at Pernas, "Hey, handsome. Do you have any blue irises? I don't think we'll be much help to them."

Her hands stopped glowing and she linked an arm in Pernas'.

"Umm... yeah." Pernas said, blushing. "I have iris. Lots and lots of iris."

Awkward silence.

"I really like iris." Pernas said.

"So, uhh," Vi's Father said. "I understand that you're the one who created the island?"

"Not quite." Eonoe said. "But it's a simple little world I was able to shape, to a large degree. I understand you've been wanting to go home for some time?"

Vi's Father nodded.

"Yes." Eonoe said. "I can do that."

"What about Violet?" Vi's Father asked.

"She can go home, too, if she wants." Eonoe said. "However, I'm not too keen on the notion of keeping a door open. It's a choice that must be made, I feel."

"Pernas," Reyna said, "I think this is part of your decision too. This is your island after all. Would you like to have Vi around?"

Pernas blinked, thinking it over heavily. He was silent for several minutes.

"Yeah, I like having her here." Pernas said, nodding. "But I don't know... this isn't really her home, is it?" he sat down. "I've never dealt with this before."

"It's okay, Pernas." Eonoe said. "A lot's happening right now."

"I know handsome," she leaned down and kissed Pernas' cheek, "I only asked if you wanted her here. She will decide where her home is."

She slunk in to Eonoe's arms and smiled at the father, "I'm Reyna by the way. I'm a Eonoe's fiance." It made her a little giddy to say it but she squelched the giggle in her throat.

"Okay." Pernas said, nodding.

"Oh." Vi's Father said. "I'm afraid Pernas hasn't told us that much about either of you."

"Well, he didn't know about her." Eonoe said, shrugging. "We'd like to invite you to the wedding."

"Oh." Vi's Father said, with that tone of someone who's just told you something that you could've gone without hearing and don't really know how to respond. "When is the wedding?"

"Depends on plans but fairly quickly I would imagin. I wish that we could stay longer," Reyna sounded regretful and it was mostly as she looked at Pernas, "Vi is such a pretty girl I could make a fitting dress for her to wear. I think she would quite enjoy a beautiful dress."

Vi appeared at that moment but she was blushing and hiding underneither her long hair, "You don't have to make me anything."

Reyna laughed, "Sweet heart. I would love to and perhaps we can get Eonoe in to a suit?" She poked him in the ribs and smiled up at his face.

Eonoe laughed. "A suit?" he asked, shaking his head. "I don't think I could bear wearing a suit. Too tight and too hot."

"I can't imagine a suit being any hotter than those piles of robes you wear." Pernas said.

"Perhaps. I've never actually worn a suit." Eonoe said.

"See Pernas already chose. You have to wear a suit now," she poked him again, "A nice white one would look good. Besides I can always make it nice and light weight so you don't think that you are dieing of heat."

Eonoe laughed a bit. "Okay, you win, I'll wear a suit."

"That'll be new..." Pernas said.

"First you get me in a bathing suit, and now this?" Eonoe asked.

"Huh?" Pernas asked, looking up. The mental imagine confused him.

"It was old fashion. So short sleeved and long shorts. Not too much but I want to see you in every way. Not just your robes," Reyna said to him and leaned up to kiss him, rethought, and kissed him on the cheek instead.

Eonoe beamed.

"Violet," Vi's Father said. "I want to ask you - do you want to go home?" His voice was softer now, as though he were treating it as a delicate matter.

Pernas was silent.

Vi was silent for a long time. It seemed to stretch and stretch.

Then she took a big breath and said, "I don't know. I-I thought that I would have more time. More time..." her voice trailed for a little while before she started again, "I don't know."

"It's okay." Eonoe said. "We don't have to decide right now. Why don't you just think on it and sleep on it a bit and tell us later?" he asked, with a reassuring smile.

"O-okay," Vi felt very uncomfortable with the spot light on her and sunk away as if she wanted to be swallowed up by the ground.

Reyna smiled, "Well, since you are both here now. Eonoe and I would like to envite you to the wedding. We don't have invitations but I figure that will be all right."

Eonoe laughed. "Oh, don't worry about that. Spoken invitations use up less paper." He stood up. "We'll be having it sometime soon. We have decorations to put up and all that."

"It will be beautiful!" Reyna sounded excited now and she nuzzled her face against his chest, "Should we start on it or do we have anything else we need to fix?"

"No..." Pernas said. "I think that's pretty much all the problems."

"Wonderful!" Eonoe said. "Now, we just need to get decorations up. And maybe find some kind of cow-priest."

"You mean like Belan?" Pernas asked.

"I don't know." Eonoe said. "I'd have to meet him."

"Go, go. I'll start setting up. I think we'll have it in the garden. I hope you wont mind me looking around, Pernas," Reyna laughed softly, "Vi would you like to help me? Your father can to. I don't think I quite caught your name." She pointed out to Vi's father.

"Charles Yevon." he said.

"Oh, no, I don't mind." Pernas said.

"I guess I'll be off, then." Eonoe said. "Might be interesting to examine what kind of social structure the animals have assembled for themselves."

"Go with your father Pernas," Reyna said over her shoulder as she practicaly dragged Vi and Charles through the garden.

Reyna sat in a chair with Vi to her left who was watching her silently. Vi had a long dress in her hands and was obviously close to finishing. She stopped and held up the dress, "Now go get dressed, Vi."

Vi smiled and took the dress before she moved off to get dressed. That was when Vi's father was returning and he had on a bit of an old fasion suit but one all the same.

"Shouldn't you be working on your own dress?" He asked.

Reyna smiled, "Already have it finished. A while ago. I worked on it after he asked." She didn't seem embarresed by this, "I didn't even know I had though."

She stroked her thumb across the gold band on her finger, "He should be coming back any minute now. He probably got carried away studying the cows." She smiled again.

The hunger was level and she was glad that she had chose to go with Vi and her father. Made her hunger level not rise nearly as fast.

"The birds don't seem to have as diverse of a social structure as the cattle." Eonoe said to Pernas as they walked back. "Interesting. But not particularly surprising. They just seem contented, maybe. The cattle, on the other hand, have several different factions."

"I wonder why that is?" Pernas asked.

"I think it's because you eat them."

Pip landed on the table, "Who are you?"

Reyna's eyes widened and before she thought her hand was around the little bird and she was trying to get it in to her mouth.

"HEEEEEEEEELP! HEEEEEELP!!! This crazy lady is trying to eat me!!!!!!" Pip squeeked as he wriggled his little body.

"Reyna." Eonoe said, sternly but quietly, as though not trying to draw attention, grabbing her arm, "Please don't frighten the birds."

Pernas looked at the scene, confused again, but somewhat suspicious.
