Brand New Day

"Oh, true. Do you know any priests that would marry two dragons on a magical island?" Reyna smiled at him.

"That," Eonoe said, "might be a problem. There are ways to work around that. Being that the only governance of this particular area is our own, we could technically arrange the rules as we please. Also, many dragons don't have weddings like humans do, with priests and ceremonies, unless they want to be more formal or have a fondness for human customs. We might be able to simple say our vows and have that be it for the formalities. Or maybe if there's a religious sect among the cattle, we could find the one closest to a priest among them..." he laughed.

"Maybe," Reyna laughed, "That's funny. A cow priest. I know you are doing all of the human wedding stuff for my parents."

She nuzzled him but quickly released him to get her first view of the garden. It was beautiful and she couldn't say anything for a moment, "Wow, he certainly enjoyed his garden didn't he?"

"Yes." Eonoe said. "A few hundred years has given him a lot of time to work on it." he said, walking through and admiring it. "My point is, we have a lot of options. If we can get a priest, that's an option. If we can't, that's another option. Some options are preferable to others. If we're inviting your parents, a priest is preferable." he laughed. "Just need to get all the bases covered."

"Yes," Reyna smiled at him, "If we got rid of Seth would you consider taking Pernas with us?" Her fingers twined with his as she still looked around the beautiful garden, "I mean with the two of us he could be very well protected or do you have a reason for leaving him here for so long?"

Eonoe thought. "I kept him here so that he wouldn't have to deal with the problems I face. I was worried that if I kept him traveling with me, something bad would happen..." he looked up at the sky. "If we can deal with Sethos and the other bounty hunters, then perhaps we could take him with us."

Reyna stopped them and looked up at him, "We can visit him more often." She moved closer, "I just don't want him not to have any family. When was the last time that you came to see him?"

"Not for several centuries." Eonoe said regrettably. "I think you're right. He's never had a mother, or a real family. Sometimes I worry." his voice was more quiet, and he sat down. "I worry I'd be a bad father."

Reyna was in his lap in moments, "Eonoe, you would be a fantastic father." She nuzzled him, "And even if you messed up you got me now to make up for it."

Eonoe smiled. "Thanks." he said, a bit of a chuckle. "We make up for each other's shortcomings, I think, whatever those may be." he said.

"Besides, Pernas is a great kid. You can't have messed up too badly," Reyna retorted and got out of his lap to stand up again, "Speaking of him. I wonder where he got off to? You think he's talking to Vi and her father?"

"I'm not sure." Eonoe said. "He's probably still eating." he thought a bit more. "Vi and her father... that brings up another issue - whether to send them home or not."

"Well, the father probably wants to go home but I don't think that the girl does. I think she loves Pernas. Poor girl," She smiled and laughed lightly, "I don't think Pernas will ever figure it out."

That seemed to make Eonoe worried. "No, I don't think he will. He's too oblivious to those things." he leaned forward, trying to think. "Well, we can open a doorway back to their homeworld. That's the best we can do. We may have to leave it up to them. But it's going to be complicated."

"Emotionaly perhaps," Reyna said and brushed her fingers against his face, "If she leaves he'll become a Peter Pan to her. Something she loved but will never see again. If she stays she might grow out of him or he'll never return her feelings and she'll want to leave. That or her father would be miserable with out her."

She smiled, "Aren't you glad that I had already left my parents?"

Eonoe laughed. "Well, you seem to be alright with that, in any case."

He resumed his thoughts. "Her just leaving might be best. Better to have fond memories than to have the dream start to decay. We could keep the doorway open for visits and the like, but she'd eventually die. I don't know how Pernas would cope with that, unless she were to turn into a bird again. I'll have to speak with the father and see what he thinks, though. We haven't seen him."

"No, I don't think Pernas would cope well with death," Reyna frowned at the thought of that, "Though I'm not sure the doorway would be a good idea. It would make it easier for someone, Sethos, to come after him. You're right though. We should talk to the father first."

Eonoe nodded and sighed. "Do you really think Sethos would harm Pernas? I realize he's after us, but would he really go after Pernas? He's never hurt anyone."

"I wouldn't put it past him," Reyna said quietly, "Maybe we should leave a body guard or something for him? Just in case Sethos shows up? Then at least we'll be alerted."

"Hmm..." Eonoe said. "Well," he said, taking the crystal. "We do have this. We could make a copy of it and use it as a sort of alarm system. I suppose it couldn't hurt too much to animate a few more statues. Pernas might be upset if they get destroyed, though."

"How about I make a scarecrow then?" Reyna asked, "Might be interesting to make something like that. Would put my sewing skills to good use."

Eonoe chuckled at the thought. "Not a bad idea." Eonoe thought, rubbing his chin. "Yes, a scarecrow. That's a very good idea. Now, then." Eonoe said, conjuring up a piece of paper. "We should send an invitation to your parents. Hopefully, Sethos hasn't thought of intercepting these to track us. When I checked, he didn't seem to be in a world anywhere near them."

"Nah, my parents are very good at hiding as well. They probably put up the traps after us leaving," Reyna said back, "I'll get to work on it." Her fingers glowed softly but no cloth came out, "It's sorta like a blank place in your mind that you pull it all from huh?"

She smiled and her eyes took on a bit of a glassy look. More like she was consintrating on something far away.

"Good to hear." Eonoe said. "We'll just need to figure out how to get the invitation to them." he turned to look at her as she knelt down to the ground, presumably to make the scarecrows she had mentioned. He sat back down to watch her at it.

"I'm not sure where it comes from." Eonoe said. "I just imagine the warmth of the soft cloth, and it comes from there, I guess."

"How to get them here might be the harder part," Reyna said quietly as she worked at the scarecrow, "Though perhaps I should save the scarecrow for later? We probably need to talk to Vi's father." She looked up at him and smiled.
